General Information of Orthodontic Treatmeant
Orthodontic is an intricate, lengthy and expensive treatment. To prevent any future misunderstanding. Please read the following information carefully.

Oral Hygiene
- Is of utmost importance during orthodontic treatment
- Brush/rinse your teeth after each and every time you eaten something
- Floss your teeth at least once per day use SUPERFLOSS
- Insufficient oral hygiene may cause gingivitis, bleeding gums and bad breath.
- Brush your teeth twice per day
Diet
- Change your eating habits
- Avoid hard and sticky foods e.g. crust of bread, popcorns and biltong
- Hard fruits e.g. apples must be cut up into smaller pieces
- Avoid toffies and chewing gum/bubble gum
Sensitive Teeth
- It is normal that certain pain and discomfort is felt after an appliance has been placed
- Rinse the mouth with week solution of luke warm salty water
- The discomfort normally does not last longer than two three days.
Speech
- Speech will be awkward for some time but will recover rapidly.
Lip or cheek irritation
- If the band or brackets cause irritation to the lips or cheeks place soft wax or a small piece of damp cotton wool over the offending brackets or tube.
- Phone to make an appointment (if the bracket becomes loose, do not wait for your next appointment but phone immediately to arrange for an appointment).

- The wearing of elastics is an important phase, follow instruction and wear elastics accordingly.
